Or for that matter April? It is May, right? Every time I need to write the date I second guess myself after writing April - then realize it really is May. For myself, besides being old (and us old folks know how fast time goes by when we get past a certain age) we spent a month in AZ with our latest grand girl. You know how when you go into the hospital, either yourself or sitting with a loved one - the outside world doesn't seem to move forward? That's how it was for us in AZ. It was still supposed to be March when we returned to IA! Thankfully, it was warmer and the snow had melted, even though it was almost May. But our baby girl in AZ misses us - or should I say, we miss her!!! No wonder Pastor Christ wants to retire!
I'm working on updates - for members and for the public. A new page has been added that links to articles about Martin Luther and his wife and his hometown. Check out "Lutheran News" under the "more..." tab. To not be confusing, I'm adding the Rada that the LWML sells for mission fundraising but I'm unable to hide it at the moment. I need to add the additional items plus pictures so that is a work in progress. If you see articles you would like me to post on the Lutheran News page, please let me know. Enjoy the snow if you're in snow country - might as well, after all, can't stop it. I'm sure looking forward to spring though!
This season of the Church Year can be mind boggling. Remember the wise men who visited Jesus and brought him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh? I always wondered why just these men followed Jesus' star. Were they the only ones to see it? Did not even Herod and the rulers in Jerusalem see it? It's obvious that the wise men knew the star meant the King of the Jews had arrived. They were learned men - that must be why we call them wise. And their gifts were appropriate for a King, a Prophet, and a Priest. Jesus wore the most hats of anyone. He had more names than anyone. Emmanuel, Son of the Most High, Giver of the Holy Spirit, Chosen One, Bread of Life, Living Water, Redeemer, Christ, Savior - His names are endless, as is He, as are we who believe.
I'm late getting this changed, and I don't have a white banner option to choose from, but I do have white fonts - and seeing as how our church paraments reflect the Easter color of white, that's what we'll do. Someone please remind me when Pentecost rolls around so I remember to change the banner again - to red - since we'll only get to enjoy that color for one Sunday.
After looking over the website and noticing that our calendar wasn't posting so that an entire month could be viewed at once, we decided to change the website design. After looking at many, many designs, we chose this one because - are you ready? - we can change the color of the header to go along with the church year. Isn't that something! We're in Epiphany. We won't be able to do white when it's time for Easter and Christmas, but the rest of the church year will be color-coded.
