Meet some of our Workers in the Harvest Field

Picture

We pray that our body of believers brings joy to our King as we receive His gifts and offer Him thanksgiving and praise - those sweet, sweet sounds from our hearts and lips to His ears.

Rev. Nathan Knaus, Pastor

Nathan Knaus grew up in Solomon, Kansas, graduated from  Concordia University Nebraska with a B.A. in Physics and Chemistry and a Pre-Seminary endorsement (Greek, Hebrew and Philosophy). He studied at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and to meet certification requirements served as Vicar at Trinity Lutheran Church under Pastor Dean Christ for one year. Ordained and installed in June 2019, Pastor Knaus looks forward to living in Iowa and meeting the residents of Chariton while ministering to the members of Trinity through preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ, teaching from the Holy Scriptures and making visitations. He might knock on your door!

Claudia Owens, Organist

Picture
Claudia is our elite musician. She plays organ. piano, flute, keyboard, and probably other instruments I'm not aware of. Under her leadership, our Divine Services progress in a fluid and sedate manner. She also directs our Christmas Program each year. We are truly blessed by this musician extraordinaire!

Rev. Dean E. Christ, Pastor Emeritus

Pastor Christ is almost as mischievous as he looks. Let's see if we can put a BIO in here - not a stale one, though. A fun, friendly one. We could try first person. "Trinity called me to be their spiritual shepherd in July 2010. The church body had been served by vicars in the years preceding. In fact, I served a year as their vicar before they called me to be their Pastor. Going back to school after age 50 was even tougher than I imagined, but the experience served to mold me into the servant God purposed. After serving five years as a DCE (Director of Christian Education) and thinking about retirement, I realized God was not through with me yet. He placed a yearning for Word and Sacrament ministry on my heart and a love for all His people - that's all of us by the way - He didn't die to save just believers; He died to save everyone. I am here to serve this wonderful body of Christ and all who come to worship and fellowship with us. God put a desire in me to help the hurting and lift up the downtrodden. In fact, I marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1966. Let me tell you. It's not fun to have broken bottles and rocks thrown at you. From there I entered the Peace Corps and worked in Nigeria, and Togo.  After Peace Corps I stayed in West Africa for 12 more years working in Lome, Dakar, Timbuktu, Ouagadougou, Cotonou, and Accra.  Can you find all those on the map?"
